Wildcats welcome Elbert County for scrimmage

Currently, the Wildcat players are dealing with nagging injuries associated with preseason, full contact practice.

“We are still moving forward and will look to iron out a few more details in the scrimmage,” Davis said. “Preseason games do help the coaches decide who will be able to contribute in what areas.”

The first half of Friday’s scrimmage will be played like a regular season game, including live kicking. The second half will provide coaches the opportunities to get younger players as well as backups time on the field in a game-type situation.

“That’s another good thing about preseason scrimmages,” Davis said. “You are able to get everyone on the field and get them on film.”

The scrimmage was initially set to be played at Elbert County but the Blue Devil coaches requested the location be changed. The way Elbert County’s schedule is set up this fall, the first two regular season games are at home. That means in 2013, the first two would be on the road. Elbert coaches wanted to have at least one early home date next season.
