With seven players returning for the 2012 season, the Winder-Barrow High School fast-pitch softball team will have plenty of game experience this fall.
Led by seniors Kylie Smith, Marissa Merrill and Kristen White, the Lady Bulldoggs will move into a new region as they seek to qualify for the postseason. WBHS moves to Region 8-AAAAA leaving behind Madison County and Habersham Central. Gainesville will be a new opponent the Lady Doggs face in region play.
“Madison County and Habersham Central were teams who typically went to state each season,” WBHS coach Monty McClure said. “Madison County is usually one of the best programs in the state and Habersham Central is usually pretty good as well. I am not sorry to see them go.”
