The North Georgia Jackets 14 and Under baseball team participated in the 2012 Grand Slam World Series in Panama City, Fla.
Players who participated in the World Series on the North Georgia Jackets were: Dylan Patrick from Banks County, along with several players from Union and Gilmer counties North Carolina.
The series started a little slow for the Jackets. They were defeated in the 2 pool games facing teams from Alpharetta and Cecil Fielder’s Double Day Yankees from Cartersville, seeding them in 10th in bracket play.
During the bracket play, the Jackets went on to win the next 3 games to guaranteed a 3rd place title but the Jackets pushed on and headed to the final day of play. Jackets were defeated in game one against The Show from Louisiana but came back with a win over North Gwinnett Bulldogs in game two which secured a 2nd place title. After eight innings of championship game play against The Show, the Jackets lost 5-4 and finished 2nd place in World Series.
Top pitchers for the week were: Dylan Patrick, Garret Rigdon, Dylan Chambers and Chad Watkins. Leading the team offensively were: Dalton Stephens, Andrew Peterson and Josh Daniel.
The Jackets finished 2012 season with an overall record of 29-13-1.
