JHS finishes 11th in directors’ cup standings

JEFFERSON placed 11th overall in Class AA in the Georgia Athletic Directors’ Association Cup standings with 631 points, the highest finish of any local school.
By gender, the Jefferson boys ranked seventh in Class AA with 369 points, while the girls were 13th in Class AA with 262 points.

Jefferson finished second in Region 8-AA overall behind North Oconee (1,052 points).

Elsewhere, Jackson County was 39th overall in Class AA with 253 points. Its girls’ athletic program ranked 21st in Class AA with 181 points, while the boys were 58th with 72 points.

Jackson County finished fifth overall in Region 8-AA.

East Jackson ranked 65th overall in Class AA with 92 points. The Eagles’ boys’ athletic program ranked 48th in the classification with 92 points. The girls’ program didn’t place.

East Jackson ranked 10th overall in Region 8-AA.

Westminster won the Class AA director’s cup — its 12th overall — with 1,297.5 points. The Atlanta-area private school won six state championships during the 2011-2012 season. Westminster led both gender rankings with 639.5 points for boys’ athletics and 658 points for girls’ athletics.
