Losing seasons. He was offered the job to stay as a Math teacher, but was let go as the basketball coach.

Actually it was not losing seasons. His last season with the program he won the subregion title. W-BHS was upset in their first region tournament game. The AD used that as his opening to get rid of him and bring in his own coach. He also got rid of the football coach so he could make his own hire. That football coaching hire has now gone 0-20. The AD also wanted to get rid of the very successful baseball coach but several parents stopped him. Coach Connell is a great man, coach, teacher and person. Wish we had him as AD at W-BHS. The current AD has failed miserably in all ways. It should be remembered though that the current AD has the job because of his name, not because he was qualified for the job. Connell's record was well over .500 as shown in the article.
