FIFTEEN LOCAL baseball players were named to the recently-released All-Region 8-AA South teams.
Jackson County led the list with first-team four selections — Andy Williams (third base), Trey Sorrells (catcher), Jesse Tallent (utility) and Jalen Banks (pitcher). That tied the Panthers with North Oconee for the most first-team representatives in 8-AA South.
East Jackson’s Caleb Hardy made the list as a utility player, while Jefferson’s Micah Carpenter was a selection at pitcher.
East Jackson’s Josh Valles was a second-team selection at first base, while the Eagle pitcher Robert McKay was an honorable mention.
Second-team selections for Jefferson were Andrew Bartek (first base), Jacob Page (pitcher), Matt Bowen (pitcher), Max Ford (pitcher, shortstop) and Austin Thompson (outfield).
For Jackson County, Austin Robinson and Quinn Grogan both made the second team.
