JACKSON COUNTY softball player Haley Shinall chose Emmanuel College last month and the standout pitcher made the decision official Monday with a signing ceremony.
Shinall, a four-year varsity starting pitcher for Jackson County, was joined by family, friends and coaches — both old and new — as she signed the paperwork.
“We couldn’t be more happy that she’s going to be able to continue to play at Emmanuel,” Jackson County softball coach Chessie Laird told those on hand.
Shinall coming off a senior year that included a 14-3 record and a 2.18 ERA in 131 innings pitched. She struck out 129 batters.
Shinall, who also hit. 357, was named second team All-Region for 8-AA as she helped Jackson County go 25-8 this past year.
Shinall is the ninth player Emmanuel has signed out of Jackson County in the last nine years.
Shinall said she chose Emmanuel because of the environment it offered.
“I liked the atmosphere of the whole family,” she said. “They’re really good about that. I just liked the whole school and the way it’s set-up.”
