Commerce Rec. Department accepting registrations

Parents registering their children for tackle football and cheerleading will be required to provide documentation of Commerce residency or documentation of enrollment in the Commerce City School System for the 2012-2013 school year.

This change is in accordance with the North Georgia Youth Football Association.

Birth certificates are required for all participants. Parents should bring their children to be properly fitted for uniforms at the time of registration.

Tackle football is for ages 7-12, costs $70 for city residents, $90 for non-residents. Tackle cheer is for ages 7-12, costs $50 for residents and $70 for nonresidents. Soccer is for ages 4-11, costs $75 for city residents and $95 for nonresidents. Flag football and flag cheer are for ages 5-6 and cost $50 for residents and $70 for nonresidents. Softball is for ages 7-12 and costs $65 for residents and $85 for nonresidents.

Aug. 1, 2012 is the age control date for determining what age group the child will join in all sports except softball. The age control date for softball is Jan. 1, 2013.
