Even before the 2012 season began, Apalachee High School girls soccer coach Scott Bates knew what one team goal was.
The Lady Wildcats, who had just missed qualifying for the postseason in previous years, wanted to end the postseason drought and advance to the AAAA state playoffs. That goal has been accomplished as AHS finished the 2012 region schedule with an 8-2 mark following an 8-0 thumping of Habersham Central Friday.
The Lady Wildcats (10-6-1 overall) closed out the regular season home schedule with the victory and will play one final regular season match (April 25 at Wesleyan) before beginning the postseason.
