Baseball: Jefferson pulls out 2-1 road win over Oglethorpe County

JEFFERSON got its first subregion road win of the year with a 2-1 victory over Oglethorpe County Wednesday thanks to another strong mound performance from Micah Carpenter.

Carpenter, a freshman, threw seven innings for the victory, surrendering just two hits and one unearned run. He also walked five and struck out seven as the Dragons (9-6, 5-3) moved into a tie for third place with Hart County.

Andrew Bartek went 1-for-4 with an RBI double in the top of the fifth on a night that Jefferson managed just three hits.

The Dragons, winners of three straight, now prepare for a huge series with second-place Elbert County (13-2, 6-2) starting Friday.
