Diamond Doggs win on road Monday

The Winder-Barrow High School baseball team fell behind early in Monday’s road game against Madison County, but in the end, the Bulldoggs simply had too much firepower to be denied a victory.

WBHS took a 12-6 win in Danielsville as the Bulldogg batters combined for five homers, including two from Travis Demeritte.

Ryan Brown and Dalton Carter also added solo homers while Drew Davis connected on a three-run blast.

Blake Marbut worked the first four innings before Demeritte was called on to handle the final three frames.

“It was a big win for us,” said WBHS coach Brian Smith. “They are going to throw their ace Wednesday so they mixed it up some today. They also had two homers. The ball was really carrying today.”

The win was the seventh in a row for the Diamond Doggs, who travel to Heritage Friday for a 5:55 p.m. contest.
