FORMER JEFFERSON baseball player Zach Kles, who now plays at Reinhardt University, was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference Player of the Week for March 5-11.
It marks the first time Kles has earned the weekly conference honor.
Kles is a 5-foot-11, 210-pound junior who primarily plays third base. In three AAC games last week, he batted .643 with two home runs, three doubles, seven RBIs and six runs scored as Reinhardt went 2-1. Kles collected 18 total bases for a slugging percentage of 1.286.
On the season while starting all 22 games, Kles leads the Eagles in batting average (.462), at-bats (78), hits (36), doubles (eight), home runs (eight), RBIs (33), total bases (70) and slugging percentage (.897).
Within the AAC, Kles is tops in batting average, hits per game (1.64), home runs, home runs per game (0.36), RBIs, RBIs per game (1.50), total bases, total bases per game (3.18) and slugging percentage.
Nationally in the NAIA, he is third in total bases, tied for third in home runs, fourth in total bases per game, fifth in home runs per game, fifth in slugging percentage, tied for fifth in RBIs and tied for seventh in RBIs per game (1.50).
