Lady Bulldoggs once again enjoying success

The team picked up a pair of non-region wins Wednesday and Friday against Meadowcreek and Jackson County and will return to the region battles this week.

“Our team continues to improve with each game,” Arms said. “We have been able to integrate our new players into our style of play. The girls are anticipating each other much better now and this makes us dangerous up top and it helps keep the opposing teams off the board in the back.”

The WBHS coach believes he has the best center-midfielder combination in the region in Jessi McWhorter and Ashley Phan. Through 10 matches, Phan helped lead the team with seven goals and three assists.

Claudia Hoff had also posted seven goals this spring while Elizabeth Mattison was the top assist gatherer with five.

One of the keys to the team’s success has been the play of Ashley Haugenbaugh in goal. Hagenbaugh has made 35 saves and recorded five shutouts in 2012.

The Lady Bulldoggs have 29 goals and 16 assists as a team this season.
