Track: EJCHS’s Pirtle sets school record in 1,600 meters
ANOTHER East Jackson record belongs to Cale Pirtle.
The senior track standout set a new school mark in the 1,600 meters at the Greater Atlanta Christian Invitational Saturday, winning the event with a 4:38.30.
Pirtle already owns the East Jackson record in the 3,200 meters.
He also finished second in the 800 meters Saturday at GAC with a season-best 2:03.76.
Pirtle’s first and second-place finishes helped the East Jackson boys finish with 44 points and place seventh out of 14 teams.
Shaq Alexander also highlighted the day with a third-place showing in the boys’ 200 meters with a time of 22.79 seconds.
On the girls’ side, East Jackson finished 12th out of 14 teams.
Lauren Sanders had the top day for the Lady Eagles, taking fifth in the 300-meter hurdles (51.92 seconds) and sixth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.36 seconds).

Golf: EJCHS boys fall to Jefferson
THE EAST Jackson boys’ golf team dropped a Thursday match to Jefferson, 186-203.
Cody Nix led the Eagles with a 44, followed by Nathan Crumley (46), Dylan Anderson (56) and Austin Beauchamp (57).
