THE JACKSON County-East Jackson football game, originally slated for Oct. 12, is moving to Sept. 21.

The game will be played at Panther Stadium.

Oct. 12 now becomes an open date for both teams and will coincide with fall break for both Jackson County and East Jackson.

Jackson County and East Jackson had both reserved Sept. 21 as their original open date to allow scheduling flexibility. When the region schedules were released and the JCCHS-EJCHS game was set for a date (Oct. 12) that fell over fall break, the schools decided to make the move.

“So both schools have agreed to move the game to the September 21 date,” Jackson County athletic director Jason Holcombe said. “We feel that this is in the best interest of both programs and in the best interest of our county community.”

East Jackson athletic director Richard Crumley echoed those comments.

"We felt that this was in the best interest of all involved," Crumley said. "Coach Holcombe and I discussed this and both head coaches were in agreement that this would be the right thing to do."
