Swim Doggs complete season at state

McDaniels swam a strong race in the 100 freestyle and finished 22nd overall. He swam a personal best with his 50.37.

After a quick break, Alex Hentenaar hit the water for the boys 500 freestyle.

“Although the results were not as we all expected, he was there and swam the race as well as he could at the moment,” Blevins said. “After not being completely happy with his performance, Alex turned around and swam a great split in the boys 200 freestyle relay. The boys 200 free relay lowered their time, yet again to a 1:38.62, and set a new school record. All of the boys had great splits in that race.”

McDaniels then swam the 100 breaststroke and added just a small amount of time (.24 seconds) to his state entry time.

“His form and movement looked great and he can only get better and faster from there,” his coach said.

The boys 400 free relay was the last event featuring Buttler, Jared Glenn, Paul King and Alex Hentenaar. The original, qualifying relay included McDaniels, but Glenn swam the fourth leg in the state relay. Buttler, Glenn and King all swam personal bests for the 100 free.

“Overall, the boys all swam some great races,” Blevins said. “ Although, we expected more time to drop and to place higher in some events, every school was there to do the same. The best part was just being there in the first place. It was nice to go through the season and swim every single meet and either earn a state qualifying time or lower one that was already met. We look forward to doing the same next season and being represented at the state meet in even more events.”
