After directing the Apalachee High School Lady Wildcats basketball program for the past several years, Parks resigned Monday morning to pursue a future path in school administration.
“I have enjoyed my time with the program,” Parks told the Barrow Journal. “However, now is the right time for me to look at other opportunities.”
Parks has helped build the AHS program during his seven years with the Lady Wildcats. AHS just missed qualifying for the state tournament for the first time in program history a year ago. Several injuries hurt the team this season after a promising start.
Parks informed AHS principal Glenn Wilson and AHS athletic director Brian Moore of his decision Monday morning.
“I am very proud of what was accomplished during the seven years that I was involved in the program, but feel it is time in my educational career to pursue other interests. Thank you for this opportunity,” Parks said in his resignation letter, which he also sent to the Barrow Journal.
