Blair Cain, a senior at Jefferson High School and an accomplished bowler, has signed a scholarship to bowl at the University of Pikeville in Pikeville, Ky.
He is the first Jefferson student to sign a bowling scholarship.
Cain has participated six years in the Northeast Georgia United States Bowling Congress Youth Association League and was presented the 2010 Scholarship Award. He also participates in the Georgia Youth Bowling Tour and has qualified multiple times to compete in the Junior Gold Bowling Tournament (national tournament). He competed in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 2009, and in Las Vegas, Nev., in 2011. He will compete July in Indianapolis, Ind.
Cain is a multi-sport athlete at Jefferson, lettering four years in football and two in golf.
He was nominated by Jefferson football coach T. McFerrin for the University of Georgia Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete Award.
His academic accomplishments include the Beta Club, National Society of High School Scholars and the Dragon Academic Achievement Award (two years). He is a seven-time Blue Card recipient (which honors students with an ‘A’ average for each semester).
