A 21-POINT fourth quarter wasn’t enough to save Jackson County from a 48-37 subregion loss at Oglethorpe County Friday.
“We have had trouble all year duplicating in practice what we see in games,” Jackson County coach Britt Beaver said. “ We worked to be ready for this game but Oglethorpe was plenty primed on their Senior Night.”
Jared Scott led Jackson County with 11 points, followed by Kolin Zimmer (eight), Xavier Harper (seven) and Kevin Lineburger (six).
Jackson County had trouble all night containing the Patriots’ behemoth center, Maurice Freeman.
“Their 6-8 center had three dunks and that ignited their shooters,” Beaver said. “We came out of the gate slow — shots would not fall. We got after it in the second half, scoring 21 points in the fourth quarter but it was a little too late. I was proud of how hard we played the second half. We have to play four quarters to win games.”
