ROLLASON: Tebow — a light in a dark world

What is truly amazing about Tebow is not what he does on the field, but who he does it for.

Tim has received heavy criticism from the media for being a Christian.

Tebow is open about his faith and is not ashamed of the Gospel and is certainly not afraid to tell the world who his God is — and I love it.

There needs to be more professional athletes like Tebow, that are willing to take a stand for Christ. That are willing to give thanks to the Lord in everything that they do.

The media has taken something so beautiful, such as when Tebow prays on the sideline, and have used it to try to bring him down.

The man is simply giving thanks to God and giving him the glory. I truly believe that Tebow does everything to the glory of God.

When his team wins, he gives thanks to God, when his team loses, he gives thanks to God — Tebow has a bigger picture on things, and that is great.

In the Holy Bible, Paul wrote, “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him,” (Colossians 3:17).

Tebow has not let the constant discouragement affect him, he remains faithful in God and trusts that the Lord will pull him through any situation he may be in. He won’t let the world break him down.

Jesus said, “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you,” (John 5:18-19).

It is encouraging to see such faith exemplified through one man. He is more than a football player, he is a saint in Christ that has dedicated his life to serving the Lord and to do what we were all placed on this earth to do — love the Lord.

Jesus also said, “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world,” (John 16:33).

Tebow is the ideal role model. If kids look up to Tebow, what will they see? They will see a man that looks up to Jesus Christ as his role model. What better example can a role model show than glorifying God in all that he does?

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life,” (John 8:12).

Tebow is a light in this dark world. He, like all of us, are called to be lights and to go into the darkness and reach out to others, telling them the good news of Jesus Christ.
Jesus also said, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven,” (Matthew 5:16).
Tebow is a bright light in the Broncos locker room, as well as the entire league all together. He has a great opportunity to reach many professional football players that may not know Jesus.

Tim Tebow has taken advantage of the platform that the Lord has provided him with. We could all learn a lesson from him.
