As exciting as Friday’s subregion opening victory was, Apalachee High School boys basketball coach Kevin Morris will be the first to admit that win was simply the first step toward accomplishing something special in the subregion this season.
Cameron Blakely’s basket at the buzzer gave the Wildcats a 48-46 win against rival Winder-Barrow, but Morris does not want that win to be the high point of the season.
“We are in first place in the subregion right now,” Morris said. “I try to tell the players we have been preparing for this part of the season. We have been building toward this. You don’t want one game, regardless of who it is against, to define your season.”
