THE JACKSON County girls (6-12, 3-2) suffered through an uneven performance in a 53-38 road loss to Elbert County Friday to drop to 3-2 in subregion play.
Victoria Fontana led the Lady Panthers with 11 points. Mason Garland and Macey Latty each added eight.
“Story of two halves tonight (Friday),” coach John Hawley said. “Great team defense in the first half and poor offensive execution and good team offense in the second half and poor team defense.”
Jackson County managed just three points in the first quarter en route to trailing 21-12 at the half. Elbert County maintained a nine-point edge, 35-26, heading into the fourth quarter.
“Our offense is creating the other team’s offense,” Hawley said. “On the positive side — great effort and (we’re) moving in the right direction. Just looking for more consistency.”
Jackson County returns to action Saturday at home against intra-county rival East Jackson.
