Girls’ basketball: East Jackson girls more competitive in loss

“They are incredibly hard to match up with,” coach Katie David said. “They have strong point guard, two other players that can fill it up from the outside and a standout post player.”

Taylor Patrick and Kayla Thomas led East Jackson (3-10, 1-2) with six points each.

After losing handily to Banks County the last time, East Jackson trailed 26-16 at the half and 36-23 after three quarters. The Lady Eagles trailed by 30 heading into the final period the last time they played Banks County.

“We contained what we thought were their three strongest scoring threats to a total of 22 points, but they had players off the bench who are role players that do a nice job,” David said. “I thought we showed vast improvement from our first time playing Banks — cut the deficit in half.”

East Jackson faces rivals Jefferson (Friday) and Jackson County (Saturday) this weekend.
