EAST JACKSON’S wrestling team got back to work after Christmas with two wrestlers winning their weight classes over the weekend at the Amicalola Classic in Dawsonville.

Garrett Lott won the 113-lb. division while Jeff Chandler took first in the 285-lb. class.

Lott and Chandler’s victories helped the Eagles place fifth in the traditional portion of the event Saturday.

Other Eagles placing were Jake Tate, who took third in the 138-lb. class, and Alex Trejo, who grabbed third in the 160-lb. division.

The two-day tournament was both a traditional and duals event. East Jackson went 1-3 Friday in the duals rounds.

The Eagles await their first postseason action this weekend at the Area duals hosted by Jefferson. The top two teams advance to the state duals in Macon Jan. 13-14.
