This NFL season has had its fair share of thrilling moments, but it has also had some very, well, disappointing moments as well.
It has been a season that started off with the Lions, Bills, and Raiders all near the top of the league while the once mighty Colts have dropped down to front-runners in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes.
There are a bunch of players and teams that have disappointed me this season, but for the sake of time and space I have narrowed down my list to my three biggest disappointments of the season so far.
•Number 3: Chris Johnson, running back, Tennessee Titans.
Well CJ got the deal that he wanted, holding out on his team until he got the money that he thought he deserved.
Johnson came into this season touted as the top running back in the league, but his numbers have not shown that yet this season.
In nine games Chris Johnson has only rushed for 496 yards and two touchdowns. He has only had two games with more than 100+ yards and his longest run on the season was for 25 yards.
Johnson is usually the league leader in rushes of 30 yards or more, yet he has not done that once this season so far.
Chris got the money that he wanted, but I think that he forgot that he has to continue to play football.
•Number 2: The Philadelphia Eagles.
Where to start? Well, the “dream team” has been an absolute joke so far this season.
As of week 10 the Eagles were 3-6 and in third place in the NFC East. Now, if they get hot they can still make a case to be in the playoffs.
But it seems like their season is crashing down. The defense can’t get the stop when they need to; the offense is missing half of its talent to injuries and egos.
Andy Reid will have to work some magic to get his team out of the slumps.
They lost to the Arizona Cardinals in week 10, the cardinals came into the game 2-6 with their only two wins coming against Carolina and St. Louis — need I say more?
Oh, and what’s with Vince Young? How is it that a second string quarterback — and maybe a third string at that — can come out and give the nickname of the “dream team”?
Young should worry about whether or not Kafka is going to get the edge over him.
•Number 1: Phillip Rivers, quarterback, Sand Diego Chargers.
I just don’t get it. Rivers is one of the most talented quarterbacks in the league, what has happened to him?
He started the season off hot, leading his team to a 4-1 record in the first five games. But now the Chargers have dropped their last four games to bring their record to 4-5.
Two of the last four games came against divisional rivals Kansas City and Oakland — Rivers should be torching these teams!
As of week 10, he had 13 touchdowns and 2,743 yards on the season, but he also has 15 interceptions.
You should never have more interceptions than touchdowns, simply never.
The Chargers are spiraling out of control, and a lot of it has to do with Rivers.
Rivers has killed fantasy football teams all across America. I am now very thankful that he was picked right before me, so that my fantasy team wasn’t the victim of his terrible play this season.
