Great season for BCHS. Wish them success in AAA next year. A update on the rest of 8AA. Jefferson,s season ended with a loss to Calhoun. Elbert County and North Oconee both won and have second round games at home next week. Elbert hosts Cook County and North Oconee hosts Appling County.

I will attend either the Elbert County or North Oconee game and try to keep the Main Street News area informed on the 8AA teams. If Elbert County wins they probably will have a date with Buford(ouch!) North Oconee can play at home until the AA Championship Game. If they keep winning Calhoun could come visiting! I have a brother that broadcasts the Dalton games and a cousin who broadcasts the Calhoun games. The GHSA is drawing up the new classes and regions on 11/15!

Well 8AA has one team left in the playoffs. North Oconee lost to Appling County and finishes 11-1. Elbert County beat Cook County and travels to Buford next week, ouch!

Hey Waldo - who to you really pull for? Just a few weeks ago you were downgrading Elbert and Norht Oconee as when they played Jefferson -you said these teams didn't really look that good. Now for a team that didn't look too good a few weeks ago they are doing pretty well in the state tournament

please let us all know which game you plan to grace with your presence next week. We wouldnt be able to enjoy our turkey thursday without knowing where Mr. HS Football would be on Friday night!!!!

Region 8AA is done. Elbert County beat by Buford. Next year Banks,East Jackson, Jackson Co, Elbert Co, Hart Co, North Oconee, East Hall, Fannin Co, Dawson Co will be AAA. Jefferson, Union Co, Rabun Co, Oglethrope Co will be AA.

Congratulations to the Banks County Leopard Football team! The players stepped up and got the job done after losing most of the previous coaching staff. The new coaches stepped in and worked with a new group of players and in a new school system to bring a winning season to Banks County and a State Playoff Game. Looking forward to next season already no matter what division GHSA places Banks County in.

Oh be quiet!! SOOO tired of the Banks County blame game. The new coach did a great job with a team of limited size and talent. We just DO NOT have a lot of athletes to choose from in Banks County....period! And next year you can whine and blame it on us moving to Class 3A.

Banks County has the best coaching staff they have had any many many many years. The previous staff would have maybe won 4-5 games with this same team. Coach Jones is an excellent head coach and I hope that he stays at BC for many years to come. The seniors at BC are blessed to have gotten to play for him this year. They finally got to play for a good coach!

Let's see - BCHS won the north side of the region - pretty good huh? even for someone like you. Just what do you expect? A great season, lots of wins, host a state tournament game, Players developed and improved... This was a great season no matter how you try to pull it down. If you have such a strong negative opinion get off your butt out from behind your computer and get involved and help the team. Or are u just a pure loser who wouldn't be happy winning all the way to the final 4 then playing Buford to overtime and losing by a field goal - I bet you would make the same stupid comment then!!
