Commerce ended its regular season with a dominating 45-21 win at home over Social Circle.
The victory clinched a playoff berth for the Tigers (4-6, 3-3), who as the No. 4 seed from Region 8-A will play Lincoln Co. (10-0, 6-0), the Region 7-A champions. The game will be played in Lincolnton.
Commerce seniors provided a number of Friday's highlights as they halted the Tigers' three-game losing skid to extend the school's playoff streak to 15 consecutive years.
Quarterback Cody Streetman took command of the game early. He rushed for three touchdowns and passed for another score to sophomore Quay Little. Senior Josh Swistak, perfect on extra points Friday, scored a 35-yard field goal. Senior Christian Hawkins scored his first touchdown of the season.
Sophomore Jamir Walton also reportedly broke a school record with his 100-yard interception return for a touchdown.
"To me the win shows the character and resilience of our kids," coach Marvin Justice said. "I'm proud of our team. On Monday, 32 teams will be practicing in Class A and getting ready for the playoffs, and we're going to be one of them."
