It was a successful weekend for the East Jackson Lady Eagles as they picked up five wins in six games at the Oconee Invitational just two days after winning their second region game of the year.
With the wins, East Jackson is 2-1 in region play, and 13-4 overall. The Eagles are tied for second in the region with Oglethorpe County and Jefferson. North Oconee, who is undefeated in region play thus far, is in first.
The Lady Eagles were scheduled to travel to Rabun County on Tuesday for their next region match-up. Game results were unavailable at press time. Check www.mainstreetnewssports.com for scores and updates.
Up next is a home stand on Thursday against Union County. The Lady Panthers were undefeated in the region as of Tuesday. They have scored a total of 111 runs to the Lady Eagles’ 82, but they have allowed 46 runs to East Jackson’s 22.
In their two previous meetings last year, East Jackson won 2-1 and 1-0. The first pitch is at 5:55.
The Lady Eagles’ successful run started last Tuesday with a 6-0 win over Oglethorpe County. They next moved on to the Oconee Invitational, where they defeated Riverwood 1-0 in their opening game.
The Lady Eagles’ only loss of the Invitational came Friday night, 3-0, to Oconee County. But they rebounded on Saturday morning to defeat Morgan County 6-2.
They then went on to beat Stephens County 8-0, North Forsyth 5-1, and Eastside 1-0.

Following Thursday’s pairing with Union County, the Lady Eagles will take part in the Coca Cola Classic at Patriots Park in Augusta beginning on Friday. East Jackson is scheduled to face Effingham County at 4:30 p.m. and then will face off against Tift County at 7:30 p.m. Play is scheduled to run through Saturday night.
