Madison County committed five first half turnovers and Clarke Central put 42 points on the board before intermission in a 55-20 Gladiator win Friday in Athens.
Madison County cut the Gladiator lead to 14-7 in the first quarter, when quarterback Alex Jordan hit Trey Adams for a 36-yard gain, followed by a four-yard Jordan to Adams pass for a touchdown.
Madison County added a second score with 1:08 to go before intermission, with Jordan hitting T.J. Skelton on a one-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 42-13. The extra point attempt was blocked.
The Red Raiders’ final score of the night came on a 31-yard touchdown pass from Jordan to Staquavious Mack with 2:39 to go in the game.
Clarke Central scored on a 30-yard pass, a six-yard pass, a nine-yard run, a four-yard run, a 10-yard pass, a 19-yard return after a fumble recovery, a 16-yard pass, and a 30-yard interception return.
Madison County dropped to 2-6, while Clarke Central improved to 7-1.
The Red Raiders will host Cedar Shoals next Friday, before closing out the 2011 season Nov. 4 at Heritage.
