Led by Rachel Pasko’s second-place finish, Jackson County enjoyed a successful test-run of sorts Saturday at the Patriot Races at Oglethorpe County.
Pasko ran a 20:14 to lead the Lady Panthers to a second-place finish — behind Athens Christian — on the course where the Region 8-AA meet will be held next Thursday (Oct. 27).
Jackson County had the highest finish of any of the Region 8-AA teams competing at this event as the field included rivals Jefferson and East Jackson as well as North Oconee, Fannin County, Rabun County, Hart County and Elbert County.
Sydney Baird added a ninth-place finish to help Jackson County’s cause as she ran a 21:43. Rounding out the scoring were Maddie Newton (15th, 22:22), Brooke Bullock (19th, 22:37) and Michayla Scollon (28th, 23:48).
The Jackson County boys finished 12th out of 13 teams. J.T. Wood, running a 19:21, led Jackson County with a 48th place finish. Others scoring were Tyler Manculich (69th, 20:48), Bryce Hughes (72nd, 21:00), Anthony Allen (75th, 21:07) and Eli Johnson (77th, 21:19).
