Commerce Cheer Tigers won first place in its class at a meet held Saturday at Peachtree Ridge High School in Suwanee. The Tigers scored 28 more points than its nearest competitor, Social Circle.
As a result of the contest, coach Dianne Cotrell said the team will make a few adjustments to its one-man stunt as well as to one side of its pyramid.
“Hopefully, it will help us be cleaner and not so shaky. Other than that, the girls performed a very good routine,” Cotrell said. “I was very proud of the improvement in tumbling. Our goal is to have a better score in tumbling and stunting each competition. These have been our two weak areas.”
The Cheer Tigers next meet is Saturday, Oct. 22 at Loganville High School with the regular season ending at Winder-Barrow on Oct. 29. The region meet is Nov. 5, with the finale state meet planned for Nov. 12 in Columbus.
