Leopards rush past Wildcats for fifth win of the season

The BCHS Leopards outscored the Wildcats 40-28 in their third win in the region.

With East Hall losing to Fannin tonight the Leopards hold sole possession of first place in the region. BCHS will travel to Fannin next week for another region showdown. The Leopards did a great job in the first half and scored 21 points on the Wildcats. But the second half was a struggle for BCHS and the RCHS team began scoring on the Leopard defense and the game turned into a battle of the offenses. BCHS won the game for the homecoming victory and will continue the celebratioin with the homecoming dance tomorrow evening at the high school.

Third win in the subregion not region. Banks lost their cross-over game to East Jackson. With wins over Fannin Co and East Hall they'll get a date with Elbert County for the Region Championship. Good Luck with that!

I swear, why do there always have to be jerks that make comments like this. Banks County is allowed to have positive things said about them when they are doing positive things. Worry about whatever team it is that you root for, and leave Banks County alone to enjoy some positive recognition for once!

Here is the thing, Banks is the leader of that sub region. Who cares, it amazes me that they are even in that sub region. But everyone knows that if they played Jefferson, East Jackson, Jackson County, Hart, Elbert,even Oglethorpe this year, and North Oconee on consecutive weeks, they would be last in the region. That's not being mean, that's just stating the truth. And this leads me to my next point, if Banks ends up being 1st in their sub region that automatically gives them 2nd seed in 8-AA for the playoffs, therefore hurting 8-AA as a whole because they are gonna get killed in the first round leaving either N.O. or Elbert(depending on first place in their sub region) to play all their games away instead of at home because Banks gets home field advantage being the 2nd seed. In closing do the kids need to be congratulated for their efforts? Yes. But let's not go over the top, they are playing some of the worst teams in the state.

Valid points. If the North played the South in the 10th game with 1 playing 4, 2 playing 3, 3 playing 2 and 4 playing 1 like the do in most regions, I doubt if the North Sub Region would win a game. that's not a snub on the North but all the strong teams are in the South Sub Region.

How about this. You worry about your team. Dont use Banks Co. as an excuse to why YOUR team doesnt win ballgames or make the playoffs. You win your games and you go to the playoffs. We win ours and we will go. These kids and coaches have worked hard to get in this position!!! We dont make the schedule, we just play it!!!!! Maybe if your team would focus on their games and stop whining and complaining about others games you would be in a better position. Go cry and complain somewhere else because honestly nobody from banks county wants to hear it nor does anyone care about what east jackson or jefferson does!!!

Who said I have a "team" in this. My son plays for Athens Academy. I love football and I like catching up on the teams around this area. There is no sense in getting mad at me just cause I know what I'm talking about. I said the kids sould be congratulated for their efforts, but honestly they are playing horrible teams. Rabun, Union, Dawson, East Hall, Fannin...etc... Do not compare with the teams of the other sub region. I've been around football for a very long time and i can tell you exactly what will happen, Banks will either play North Oconee or Elbert in the play-in game and it will be a 40 point loss. Then they will play (River Ridge most likely) and get beat at home by about 25. I mean that's just straight up facts. If you don't believe me look at what happen to Banks when they played East Jackson in the crossover game and East Jackson is tied for last place with Jackson County. But hey, we all are entitled to our opinions and you can blow smoke up your sons butt and tell him they are doing good only to have them sadly disappointed when they actually play someone.

I do not have a son playing either and I am a huge football fan and follow high school sports as closely as anyone. How many Banks Co. games have you been to watch?? Sounds like all the teams in the area should just call you before the season starts and let you tell us what the outcome of the season will be and just stay home. Nobody is blowing smoke but you. These kids (none of which are mine)have had a great season. A little success always brings out the vulchers. Everybody likes to kill good ole banks county while there down but hates to see a little success come their way. Like I said, we didnt make the schedule we played it. BC would beat East Jackson 8 out of 10 times and just had some bad breaks that game. And they have improved every week since then. Jealousy is a terrible thing!!!!! Cheer for your team and leave ours alone. Go tell UGA how weak they are bc they play in the east div. of SEC and all the power teams are in the West. Tell them they dont deserve an SEC championship game if they beat UF, UK, and Auburn!!!! Oh, but thats probably different right??? BC will host a first round state playoff game. Why dont you come watch it. Set on the 50 yrd line on the home side and bring all your negative comments with you. Go BC.

River Ridge plays a non-region schedule and thus doesn't qualify for the state playoffs. The teams that Banks could play in the first round include: Gordon Central, Coosa, Armuchee, Adairsville, LFO,Rockmart, or Dade County. I agree that the best four teams in the region are Elbert, NO, Jefferson, and Hart. Nevertheless, I think that Coach Jones and his staff have done a wonderful job. They've exceeded expectations even with their schedule and they and the boys have earned a well-deserved congratulations from me.

I guess we would all have better teams if we could recruit, yet still play public schools. So, Mr. high and mighty Athens Academy, nobody cares what you think about Banks County athletics. Talk about it with your buddies at the country club, not on an article where these children are being praised for their hard work and effort.

And Athens Christian is playing in the playoff's where? Oh maybe they're stopping by the food court at Georgia Square to have their pep rally. Do a little shopping, visit Santa and ask him for a playoff win? You may not like it, you may abhore it, and Banks may be slaughtered by North Oconee or Elbert but read it and weep: BANKS COUNTY - SUB-REGION CHAMPS 2011 OUTRIGHT, NO IF'S, NO AND'S, AND NO BUT'S. Go wash your BMW it's dirty from your drives on our dirt roads.

Great win for BC over Fannin Co. Now finish off East Hall! Next will be a game with Elbert Co. or North Oconne the in the playoffs will be a team from Region 7AA. We will see who the looooosers are!

Sore as a wet hornet I'd say. Please, Jefferson, Commerce, East Jackson, say what you will but come to Banks County winners of the 8AA Sub-region whether you like it or not, to enjoy nice resturants. And even if they are destroyed buy Elbert or North Oconee, Banks is STILL SUB REGION CHAMPS 2011.

Sub Region Champs and Region RunnerUps. First round playoff game at home against the 3rd place team from 7AA. Win that game and it's down to South Georgia to play Fitzgerald! It could happen!

Banks quit playing Commerce (sisters of the poor) when the kittens grew feathers. Walmart is one of the few stores that sells cheese but you will find an abundance of 'whine' all thru Jackson County and Athens. Banks - 8AA REGION CHAMPS baby!!

For years when Jefferson beat these same teams that is Banks Countys region and went to state everyone talked about what a strong program they had. Now when a new team wins in this part of a region they do not get the same accolades. Isn't it IRONIC how 1 team can play the same teams that were historically dominated by Jefferson and everyone in the area puts them down. Sounds like sour grapes and jealousy. You know like bully children always wanting to play against someone they know they can beat so they feel like a winner. grow up and just know - win your games and you will get what you deserve. Doesn;t matter what the sub region is. THink about it what if you played region 6 teams excluding Buford, how would East Jackson measure up to Lovett or Blessed Trinity? I thought so -you would say, they are too good let us play one of the mountain teams.
Hey walso -doesn't look too good on you when you whine and call out a team and publicly state they will play Elbert in the cross over game and your choice of dominating team doesn't make it. I guess you shouldn't have counted north oconee out huh? look like you don't know as much as you thought about the teams huh?
Why don't you grow up and stop trying to live your life through your kids? Maybe you couldn't make it on a winning team and can't stand the fact that a little country team had a decent season.

Aight, you ALL should be ashamed of your selves with some of these comments. You do know that some of these kids whether they are from Jefferson, Jackson, Banks or surrounding counties could actually be reading all these comments. It makes no sense for adults acting like and talking like a bunch of small children. It is sad to know that in any sport (girls or boys) that if their team is successful in that sport, there is always something negative going to be said and mostly always it’s the parents/adults that are the ones to start it.

As for the schedules for the schools, if you don’t like what you see then voice your opinion to the GHSA board. To me that would make more sense, then keeping the pots stirred up for all the kids to read.

Sorry if I seem to offend anyone, but I feel it should be said!

Hope you all have a wonderful Halloween and please remember that whatever sporting event you are supporting, it’s about the ATHLETES and not the parents!!!
