For the second time this season, Grayson edged out Mill Creek to take first place in a competition cheerleading event. After beating Mill Creek on September 6 at Collins Hill, Grayson once again held on to win this past weekend in Dawson County.
Despite the loss, head coach Ashley Baker stated she was very proud of her team.
“We had some errors, like stepping out of bounds and a pyramid not hitting solid,” Baker stated. “Varsity still had a strong finish.”
Mill Creek competed against Milton, North Gwinnett, Northview, North Forsyth, South Forsyth, Chattahoochee, Alpharetta, Woodstock and Grayson.
“We were up against a lot of great teams,” stated Baker. “There were several teams from our Region there, so it was a great preview of how each team is doing.”
Though Baker expects a tough year with the amount of talent entering each competition, she is confident that Mill Creek can hold its own.
Baker also had praise for the junior varsity which also finished second behind Grayson.
Mill Creek’s next competition will be on Saturday, September 27 as the Lady Hawks host a varsity competition. The event begins at 11 a.m.
