•BANKS CO. 12, JEFFERSON 5: Jordyn Whitfield went 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Savannah Snapp went 2-for-3 and homered but it wasn't enough for Jefferson in a seven-run loss in the opening round of the Region 8-AA tournament Monday.

Jefferson led 4-3 after six innings but Banks County erupted for nine runs in the top of the seventh.

•JEFFERSON 9, ELBERT CO. 0: Fueled by a seven-run third inning, Jefferson (12-18) beat Elbert County 9-0 Monday in Region 8-AA losers' bracket play to rebound from a 12-5 loss to Banks County earlier in the day.

Offensive leaders were Savannah Snapp (2-for-2, 2 RBIs), Jordyn Whitfield (2-for-3, RBI), Meagan Faulkner (2-for-3, RBI), Cason Anderson (2-for-3), Lindsey Miles (1-for-4, 2 RBIs).

Snapp picked up the win from the pitcher's circle.

Jefferson returns to action today at 6 p.m. against the loser of Dawson County and Banks County.
