Jackson County coach Billy Kirk believed his team was due, and indeed it was.

The Panthers (2-4, 1-2) stopped a four-game losing streak in resounding fashion with a 30-13 win over a much-improved Oglethorpe County team Friday on the road.

"We beat a very good Oglethorpe County football team," Kirk said. "I take my hat off to our kids and our coaches."

Jackson County's four-game losing skid included very frustrating losses to Fannin County and East Jackson. Kirk said he believed his Panthers showed what kind of team they were tonight.

"We're not a 2-4 football team," Kirk said. "That's the frustrating thing."

Jackson County, which led 21-13 at the half, was able to shutdown Oglethorpe County's triple option attack which generated 374 yards rushing last week against East Jackson. Kirk praised his defensive staff for being able to get the team ready for the Patriots' offensive scheme in such a short span and also completed the game-planning of the offensive staff. Jackson County ran the ball with great success with Dustin Scott rambling for 126 yards and three touchdowns. This comes two weeks after Scott ran for 189 yards against East Jackson.

"He's our workhorse," Kirk said.

Xavier Harper — who opened the game-up with a long kickoff return which set up the Panthers' first score — accounted for Jackson County's other touchdown, while the Panthers also picked up a safety.

Jackson County upped its record to 2-4 with the win and earned its first subregion victory in the process. The Panthers face a huge test next week, traveling to North Oconee to face the 5-0 Titans.

But getting a win makes it much easier to go back to work

"I feel good about what we're doing," Kirk said.

A good win? What are you on, this team is a joke that shouldn't be allowed to step on a football field. There a 4th rate team, with 4th rate players and 4th rate coaches. There "star" players are worthless and couldn't get into a NAIA college; they are complete jokes. In fact, didn't they lose 37-0 to Walnut Grove. This win over Oglethorpe County means nothing, besides exposing that Oglethorpe County is worse than we thought. Next week, they will be massacred by North Oconee (even though they got lucky against Jefferson). But luckily, they won't need luck to annihilate Jackson County. Kirk and Keith Trollinger will give some bullsh-- speech that the teams heard a thousand times about how they can overcome the odds and win (like they gave against the likes of Eastside, Franklin County, Jefferson, Fannin County, and any other team they've lost to during Kirk's 5 years of debacle). Then the team will get all-hyped up just to be devastated by a blowout loss. Even with this win, Coach Dumb(butt) is still 11-34-1, and North Oconee, Jefferson, Hart County, and the play-in team will, hopefully, punish him into retirement. None of these amateurs have the right to possess any wins, and they will, once again, be exposed for the frauds they are against the Titans, Dragons, and Bulldogs. They will have to be reminded of their place in this world, at the bottom of the pile. ALL HAIL JEFFERSON!

I do know one thing. One of Coach Kirks players would never post something as disgraceful as what you posted. His players and him are a class act no matter what the record. He is not only teaching them about football but also about life. His wins will come.

You have absoultly know life. Really the funny thing is, is that you were probably once a panther and know your on the dragon band wagon just like most of the JC panther alumni.What it truthfully is, is that those type of hypercrits aint got the balls to stand up for the team they once played or pulled for. If jefferson was losing and EJ or Commerce or JC was winning they would jump from one to another.Listen football has to do with commitment, so be committed to the team you care about and keep you nonsense to yourself. JC will have the most class out of any them in the oounty. Kirk and Trollinger dont only teach WINNING in football but most of all WINNING in LIFE thats what matters. Their is nore to life than football and they get that across. If jefferson didnt do all this recruting pulling student from other schools and countys they would be nothing let me repeat myself nothing! This aint college or pros, its high school footballlet them play!!

BY THE WAY, JCCHS HAS HAD THE MOST PLAYERS TO PLAY A LEVEL OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL THEN ANY OTHER TEAM IN JACKSON COUNTY IN THE PAST 4 YEARS!!

It is sad that a paper would actually publish such a statement. Despite, the fact that this person has no clue what they are speaking of, they must be a product of the city schools since there are such horrific spelling and gramatical errors.

Dear Long wind my son plays for the panthers and i'm a very proud parent. Not real sure of what kind of up bringing you had,but from the sound of if not much of one.Now i hope that this is a kid but if not if you would like to talk to me concerning my son or any of the panther players i will be sitting on the 50 yard line, upper deck,half way up,outside row wearing a red panther hoddie. Lookig foward to our talk.

I am a proud Panther parent, too and it makes me sick to read something so horrible. I can't believe you can lay your head down at night and close your eyes knowing you have spoke such harsh words about another human being. I also can't believe it is okay for you to slander these men in the paper the way you have done. I have supported my son since recreation ball (win or lose) and will continue until he doesn't want to play any more. We have been approached by other schools for him to come play; but we don't ROLL like that...we have been a panther and will always be a PANTHER!!! I hope you will take the time to come up to the upper deck and talk to us proud parents and hear what we have to say! GO PANTHERS!!!

I guess you forgot when Commerce kicked Jeffersons butt year in and year out.they need to get by Elbert.as for Jackson County they have lost good football players for years to both Commerce and Jefferson. I am from out of the county and know this.I would like to know how many of the players from jefferson live in the city limits.If all players do then fine.Jefferson has a good coach in Coach "T".Jefferson is a good spot with good players and coaching.i have seen good teams fall.And one day both East Jackson and Jackson County may be up one day.I will give props. to any team from Jackson county when they win . that would be Commerce,East Jackson ,Jackson county And Jefferson.one day i hope all schools in the county could play each other and have a true county champion with a trophy that the school would keep for the year.
