THE JACKSON County volleyball team (16-17, 3-2) honored its seniors by beating rival East Jackson on senior night.
With the 25-18, 21-25, 25-15 win, the Panthers also remained in fourth place in Area 8-AA/A North.
“I was proud of the fight and aggression each player had on the court,” coach Crystal Colley said. “Congratulations to our seniors. You will be missed.”
Jackson County’s senior class includes Jasmine Williams (outside hitter), Dorothy Maisonneuve (outside hitter), Samantha VanFleet (libero), Rachel Smith (middle hitter), Crystal Moua (defensive specialist) and Janice VanFleet (manager).
Jackson County also played Cedar Shoals in non-area action Thursday and lost 25-18, 25-22.
Statistical leaders for the night were Jaycee Caylor (seven kills, seven aces, two blocks), Williams (seven kills, seven aces), Maisonneuve (12 digs), Moua (six digs) and Kelcie Zimmer (23 assists).
Jackson County followed-up its Thursday performance with a 1-3 Saturday tournament showing. The Panthers beat Chestatee and lost to Flowery Branch, George Walton and Lanier.
“We struggled with attacking and playing aggressive at the net,” Colley said.
Leading Jackson County were Smith (five kills), Williams (five kills), Maisonneuve (14 digs), Moua (13 digs), Caylor (six aces) and Zimmer (19 assists).
