1. What kind of offense will Union County deploy?
Union County runs a no huddle, spread offense. They throw the ball more than anyone we have played so far. They try to control the ball with the short, high percentage passing game.
2. Are there any similarities in the teams offense?
No not really. We are primarily a power running team, and their bread-and-butter is their short, controlled passing game.
3. What will Union Counties defense hope to accomplish?
They will try to slow us down running the football and prevent big plays in the play-action passing game.
4. What type of defense will Union County use against the Leopards?
Union runs a Slant 3-4 defense. They are extremely sound and well coached.
5. What key elements will the Leopards need to execute to win against Union?
We must be physical on both sides of the ball and prevent the turnovers that were so costly to us in the last two games.
6. Any outstanding players from the ACS game or key plays that would be interesting to the readership of the paper?
Dean Ewing was awarded the offensive player of the week, Greg Cannon the Defensive Player of the week, Jameson Flynn was the Special Teams player, and Austin Segars was our scout team player.
7.Are their any new injuries or concerns this week?
Rayshawn Hunter is still working through an ankle injury that he suffered against ACS, and Eli Smallwood is recovering from a concussion. We hope to get these guys back Friday.
8.What have the Leopards concentrated on for improvement during the off week?
Simplicity. Breaking it down to the fundamentals. We are trying to keep things simple for our kids so they can play fast and worry less about making mistakes.
9. How important is this first game of the region for the Leopards?
Obviously very important. It is the first step toward our goal of a sub-region championship.
10. How do you feel about the season so far with a 2-2 record?
Although we were not pleased with the outcome of our last two games, I was pleased with the resiliency of our kids and the fight they showed for the full 48 minutes. I believe their toughness and tenacity will serve us well in sub-region play.
