Quarterback Trae Burton was a workhorse for Madison County Friday evening, running inside, sprinting outside, slinging the ball downfield.
The senior scored three times for the Red Raiders on runs of 7, 1 and 3 yards, but a quarterback on the other side of the field — for that other Raider squad — was even more elusive, leading Habersham Central to a 41-24 victory on Madison County’s Homecoming.
Quarterback Kevin Ellison (#4) accounted for all six Habersham Central touchdowns Friday, running for scores of 2, 17, 17 and 73 yards and throwing for touchdowns of 45 and 17 yards.
Madison County’s Joey Sandres booted a 31-yard field goal, his first of the year, in the third quarter for Madison County’s other score.
Ashlynn Self was named Madison County’s 2011 Homecoming Queen. India McElroy was named Homecoming Princess.
