GETTING TOP five finishes from both Trae Timmerman and Kyle Kashuba, the Jefferson boys’ cross country team earned its first win of the year with a victory at the Mountain Eagle Invitational in Clarkesville Saturday.
With 66 points, Jefferson edged second-place Buford (74 points) in the 12-team event.
Timmerman, a senior, ran an 18:47 to place third, followed by Kashuba, a sophomore, who finished fifth with an 18:59. Rounding out the scoring were Jake Sherman (20:09, 18th), Bryan Thao (20:18, 19th) and Cain Lorenzo (20:19, 21st).
Jefferson’s girls finished third with 70 points, led by Reese Bowles who took second overall with a 22:08. Rounding out the scoring were Sasha Parker (24:21, sixth), Emily Elrod (25:32, 18th), Laura Price (25:46, 20th) and Maggie Adams (26:39, 32nd).
Jefferson’s girls finished behind White County and Buford in the seven-team field.
The Dragons will return to action this week at North Oconee Thursday.
