Jefferson spilt a pair of matches Tuesday night, losing to North Oconee but beating Morgan County in the nightcap to move to 12-5 on the year.
The Dragons (12-5, 2-0) lost 24-26, 25-15, 23-25 in the opener to the Titans.
“The match featured numerous lead changes and long rallies,” said coach Mike Paul, who added that Jefferson suffered from inconsistent hitting in games one and three.
Jefferson won 25-14, 25-17 against Morgan County and was able to play some of its reserves.
Statistical leaders for the two matches were Cassie Metcalf (two aces, three kills), Amanda Daniel (six kills, 36 assists), Taylor Cramsey (10 kills), Eden Starnes (nine kills, one block), Sarah Wood (18 kills) and Savanna Holland (six kills).
Jefferson went 2-2 in the Georgia Challenge Tournament Saturday in Woodstock, winning the bronze bracket.
The Dragons opened the tournament with losses to Class AAAA schools Kell (15-25, 25-15,12-15) and Lambert (27-25, 10-25, 12-15) in pool play. Paul said his team “played great defense and learned a lot about themselves as we improved against good competition” in the pool play segment.
Sent to the bronze bracket, Jefferson knocked off Mundy's Mill (25-14, 25-16) and George Walton Academy (24-26, 25-21, 15-10).
Saturday leaders for the Dragons were Metcalf (three aces, 19 kills), Daniel (five aces, 11 kills, 65 assists), Cramsey (5 aces, 34 kills, three assists), Starnes (three aces, 12 kills), Wood (14 kills, seven assists), Holland (three aces, 10 kills, two assists), Savannah Bogue (one kill), Hannah Murphy (one kill) and Gianna Fuller (one kill).
