East Jackson struck first, but Jackson County responded with seven unanswered runs for their seventh straight win with a 7-1 victory over the Eagles Thursday at Panther Field.

Jackson County senior Haley Shinall turned in another solid performance in the circle, throwing a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts.
The loss was the third-straight for East Jackson, which fell to 3-6 overall and 2-3 in subregion play.

The Eagles, playing their second rivalry game in a row after losing to Jefferson two days earlier, got a bases loaded walk in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.

Jackson County, however, answered for three runs in the bottom half of the inning against East Jackson starter Rebecca Turner and never looked back. The Panthers added two runs in the bottom of the third, another in the fourth and one more in the fifth.
East Jackson was slated to face Hart County at home Tuesday but the game was cancelled due to wet conditions from recent rain.
