JEFFERSON pounded out 18 hits Tuesday and snapped a five-game losing skid with a 14-5 blasting of subregion foe Elbert County on the road.
Jordyn Whitfield (3-for-5), Raegen Sandy (3-for-6) and Lindsey Miles (3-for-6) all enjoyed three-hit games while Whitfield drove home two runs. Megan Faulkner also had a big night, going 2-for-5 with three RBIs as did Leah Pryor, who was 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
Jefferson (4-10, 2-1) trailed 5-2 after three innings but answered with five scores in the fourth and seven in the seventh to finish off the Blue Devils.
Savannah Snapp threw a complete game for the victory, allowing six hits, five runs (all unearned) and one walk while striking out three.
Jefferson entered the game having dropped its last five games of the Hawk-Bulldog Invitational tournament to Oconee County (8-0), Collins Hill (3-2), Apalachee (4-1), Archer (5-0) and Mill Creek (8-0).
Prior to that skid, Jefferson got into the subregion win column with a 4-2 win over Hart County Thursday. Whitfield led Jefferson at the plate with a 3-for-4 day, while Snapp threw a complete game.
Whitfield’s three-hit day included two RBIs and one run scored. From the pitcher’s circle, Snapp threw seven innings and surrendered eight hits, two earned runs and no walks while striking out six.
Jefferson, who pounded out 10 hits in the victory, took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning and plated three insurance scores in the top of the fifth. Hart County scored a run each in the bottom of the sixth and seventh.
