Madison County’s all star teams hit the field against area competition this past week.

MADISON CO. SENIOR LEAGUE ALL STARS
•Tournament location: at Habersham County
•Next: Madison County will open play Saturday, July 2, at 6:30 p.m., versus Habersham. The loser will play Tuesday, July 5, at 8:30 p.m. The winner will play at 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 5. Teams include Madison County, Habersham, Franklin County and Toccoa.

MADISON CO. LITTLE LEAGUE ALL STARS

•Next: Madison County will open the tournament Saturday, July 2, at 1 p.m. versus Habersham. The squad will then take on Franklin County at 6 p.m., Wednesday, July 6. The tournament semifinals will be held at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., Friday, July 8. Teams include Habersham, Madison County, Rabun County, Hart County, Franklin County and Toccoa.

MADISON CO. 9-10 BASEBALL ALL STARS

•Results: lost to Toccoa 9-0 Saturday, lost 16-3 to Franklin County Tuesday

•Notes: Blake Taylor was 1-1 at the plate in both games. Manager Derrick Anderson said Noah McFarland “pitched well both games.” He said Hunter Tiller had some “good infield play,” and that Adam Echols was solid at shortstop. “Hardly anything got by him,” said Anderson of Echols. He also praised the play of catcher Jacob Dixon. “It was a delight to coach the kids I had,” said Anderson. “I’d like to thank my assistant coaches, Brandon McFarland and Randell Echols and all the parents for their patience over the past two weeks.”
MADISON CO. SENIOR LEAGUE SOFTBALL
•Tournament location: at Rabun County
•Results: lost to Hart County 2-1 Monday, beat Toccoa 11-6 Tuesday
•Next: versus Rabun County Wednesday night (results not available as of press time). With a win over Rabun, Madison County will face Hart County Thursday.
•Roster: Kristen Crumley, Casie Wade, Taylor Garrison, Elizabeth Stoyle, Megan Boswell, Tatum Harris, Brianna Morgan, Kayla Argo, Cheyenne Pridgen, Mallory Rogers
•Notes: Madison County dropped a pitcher’s duel Monday, holding a 1-0 lead entering the final inning, before falling 2-1. Coach Lance Wade praised the play of pitcher Cheyenne Pridgen and shortstop Casie Wade. He said the team got a bad break on a call at first in the final inning that affected the outcome. Madison County bounced back from the Monday loss with a convincing win over Rabun County Tuesday. Tatum Harris and Brianna Morgan both slammed out-of-the park homers for Madison County in the win.
MADISON CO. 11-12 SOFTBALL ALL STARS

•Results: lost to Franklin County 16-1 Saturday, lost to Toccoa 12-2 Monday

•Notes: Madison County batted .348 Saturday. “The girls put the bat on the ball; they just hit it right at them,” said manager Tommy Cowart. Kelsie Wood pitched a complete game Saturday. Though the final score against Franklin County was lopsided, Madison County trailed just 5-1 in the fifth. “The final score doesn’t really tell the story,” said Cowart of the game’s competitiveness. On Monday versus Toccoa, Naomi Cowart pitched two innings and Jade Treadwell pitched three innings. Second baseman Kacie James “played an excellent game,” the coach said. “I was proud of the girls and the effort they gave,” said Cowart.
MADISON CO. 9-10 SOFTBALL ALL STARS

•Results: beat Rabun County 16-4 Saturday, lost 11-4 to Toccoa Monday
•Next: 8:30 p.m., Thursday, versus Habersham
•Roster: Jordan Bailey, Kaitlyn Dean, Mallory Smith, Cloie Dickerson, Grace Gillespie, Sarah Johnson, Laney Bales, Karissa Embry, Lauren Griffeth, Mary Michael Chastain, Kinley Phillips
•Notes: Karissa Embry picked up the win for Madison County Saturday. “The whole team really played well together, like I hadn’t seen before,” said coach Dwayne Dickerson about the squad’s 16-4 win over Rabun County Saturday.
