BASKETBALL: Lady Doggs have new coach

Brandon Thomas has been hired as the new varsity girls basketball coach at Winder-Barrow High School.

Thomas arrives from Pickens County High School where he has worked as an assistant for the past six seasons. He has also coached at Eagles Landing High School.

Thomas replaces Brenda Hill-Gilmore, who resigned to become the head coach at Gainesville High School.

The Barrow County Board of Education approved the hire Tuesday night. This will be the first varsity basketball head coaching position for Thomas. He has been a head tennis coach.
