The Red Raiders’ track team ended the season with a state placer from the Georgia Olympics last weekend at Jefferson.
Derrell Dukes capped the season for Madison County earning second place in state in pole vault with a 13’6” flight. Dukes also sets the school record for pole vault with a 14’ flight during the region meet this season.
The runner-up state finish by Dukes also made school history for Madison County in the pole vault event.
Dukes finished second to Flowery Branch’s Austin Eckenroth’s flight of 15’1”. The top five was rounded out by Northwest Whitfield, Effingham County and Marist, each team ending at a height of 13’.
Madison County’s final placement in the state meet was a three-way tie for 19th. Clarke Central had the highest finish overall at the the Georgia Olympics, followed by Alcovy and Kell.
