Lady Eagles’ Season Ends

The East Jackson girls’ soccer team saw its season come to a close last week, as the Eagles fell in the first round of state tournament play to the Lady Titans of Blessed Trinity.

The game, which was played on the road in Roswell, began going in Blessed Trinity’s direction early. After scoring their first goal with about five minutes left in the half, the Lady Titans then scored three quick goals to carry a 4-0 lead into the half. In the second half, Blessed Trinity continued to control the game, coming away with the 8-0 victory.

Blessed Trinity had entered the game 14-2 overall and ranked No. 1 in the state. The Lady Eagles ended their season at 9-7.

“We played very well,” said coach Randy Hill. “I am very proud of our girls.”

Hill pointed to the performance of his seniors, Abby Adams, Dakota Chandler, Kassie Mull and Sherri Blalock, during the Lady Eagles strong 2011 campaign, saying they “will be missed.”

“We have a lot of returning players and plan to play a lot and work out this summer,” he added. “We are looking forward to next year.”
