Eagles Punish Panthers

Jackson County

Coming into last Tuesday’s game, the Eagles had fallen in all three previous pairings against the Panthers this season.

At first, it looked like it might be the same story, fourth verse for the Eagles, as Jackson County scored two runs in the top of the first to take the early lead. But East Jackson answered in the bottom of the inning, putting two runners across to tie the game 2-2.

East Jackson added four more runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 6-2 lead and made it 7-2 in the bottom of the fourth.

The Panthers put two runs on the board in the top of the fifth to pull to within three runs, but East Jackson responded in the bottom of the inning by scoring five runs, taking a six run lead into the final inning. Jackson County would score once more, but got no closer, as East Jackson slammed the door and put away the 12-5 victory.

It marked the sixth win of the year for the Eagles and, more importantly, gave East Jackson its first baseball victory ever against the Panthers.

Oglethorpe County

Coming off of Tuesday’s win the Eagles had a chance to end the season with their first back-to-back victories in their final contest against the Patriots.

After falling to Oglethorpe 14-4 on March 3, East Jackson beat the Patriots 11-1 on March 17 and 14-4 on April 1.

Despite fighting hard against the Patriots, East Jackson came up just shy of that win, falling 10-9.
