Red Raiders halted at Sweet 16

In the second round against Chattahoochee, the Red Raiders were defeated 3-0.

“We knew going into this match that Chattahoochee’s lineup came with some impressive credentials. said coach Keith Strickland.

“Our game plan was to play tennis the way we know we can and to take the match one point at a time and build as the match progressed,” he said. “I am extremely proud of how well our guys played. With mostly underclassmen, they showed real heart and desire on the courts.”

Against Chattahoochee, the Madison County boys gave it their best, but were defeated 3-0.

The team ends the season 18-4 overall, 13-1 in region play and 9-1 in the sub-region. Red Raider netters
made the AAAA State Sweet 16 for the second consecutive year, won the Region 8-AAAA championship, won the Region 8-AAAA North sub-region championship, and took third place at the Granger Invitational Tournament.

“With the depth we have returning next season and if the boys commit themselves to improving and conditioning in the off-season, we should be a contender again next year. Repeating as region and sub-region champions and getting past the 16s at state will be our major motivation for next season,” Strickland said.
