Lady Eagles Open State Play Thursday

The East Jackson girls’ soccer team begins state tournament play this week after coming away from the region tournament as the number four seed.

The 9-6 Lady Eagles will open state play Thursday at Roswell where they’ll face the top-ranked Lady Titans of Blessed Trinity, who wrapped up their season with a 14-2 record.

Start time is scheduled for 6:30.

The Lady Eagles, who are ranked 19th in Class AA, played Union County last week in a match to determine who would be the number three seed going into this week’s state play.

Union County won 2-1, despite a strong showing by Jessica Alacron, Abby Adams, Kassie Mull and Sheena McEachin, who scored East Jackson’s lone goal.
