The East Jackson Eagles were hoping for a reversal of fortune in their home opener after losing by a slim margin to West Hall last week in their season opener.
They had no such luck, however, as the Fannin County Rebels handed them not only their second loss in as many games, but also their first region win in the program's first region game.
The Rebels took charge early, and moved ahead 14-0 by the time the second quarter was only three minutes old.
The Eagles finally broke into the end zone with eight seconds left on the clock, but failed on an attempted two point conversion, leaving the score 14-6 at the half.
When the two teams returned, the East Jackson players showed some fire, and held the Rebel offense at bay, while moving themselves into scoring position several times in the second half.
But each time they were denied by the Fannin County defenese. With just under two minutes to go, the Rebels scored again, but failed on the PAT, leaving the score 20-6. An East Jackson fumble gave Fannin County the ball with just over one minute remaining, and they were content to run the clock out, giving them a 20-6 win.
